Striped Mushroom coral Discomosa aka Watermelon

Striped Mushroom corals are a soft corals closely related to anemones, found throughout the Indo-Pacific. They are ideal for beginners new to the hobby as easy to care for. Other Discomosa's come in a huge array of colours, from green, blue, orange and reds and all sorts of combinations.

Discomosa corals are generally smooth disc shaped corals with a few species having coloured pimples. The superman or Tonga red mushroom corals are some of the most sort after corals in this family.

 Most Mushroom corals prefer lower light levels in the blue spectrum and soft  water flow. They prefer a higher nutrient aquarium in which they receive, along with the light, most of their energy requirements.

They can sting sps corals and cause tissue regression and are liable to be stung by more aggressive LPS, When they will generally move away from them. Under stress or to much light or flow they will detach from their rock.
