LPS (Large Polyp Stony) corals have much larger polyps than the reef building SPS corals. Being larger and more fleshier they can sway in the currents. LPS corals tend to need less light but do need more nutrient in the way of food particles, and requiring gentle to medium currents. They come in all stunning bright colours and even some fantastic combinations.
LPS corals used to be considered very challenging and considered only for the experienced aquarist. But with new discoveries and improvements in technology in the last couple of decades or so have brought them into the realm of the average aquarist. Nowadays it is not uncommon to see aquariums with various species of LPS growing and thriving.
We import and aqua culture our LPS. Seeking stocks form ethical sources as to not make a damaging impact on our natural reefs.
